City of Maynard, Minnesota!

Maynard was founded in 1887, a quintessential railroad town named after A.K. Maynard the brother in-law of John Spicer. Maynard is home to Budger’s Dinner House, Lumpy’s Bar, Thorstad Construction and Design Group (Impact Innovations). Maynard is a small community with a huge heart. Maynard is known for its 4th of July Celebration and for the annual Rodeo.


Located in the great, beautiful state of Minnesota, Maynard is a small town full of proud, honest residents. In our latest census, our town's population consist of 366 people. Each individual helps the community of Maynard through hard work and relationships.

The Maynard community hosts MACCRAY West Pre-K through 6th Grade. Junior High and High School children attend MACCRAY in Clara City.

GARBAGE AND RECYCLING


TUESDAY is recycling day. Items will be picked up at the curb. Recyclable items include plastic, newspaper, magazines, glass and cardboard. Cardboard boxes should be flattened and tied together before setting at curb.


THURSDAY is garbage pick-up day. Contact city office to arrange for garbage container delivery.


WATER/SEWER BILLS

Meters are read the first working day of the month. Bills are mailed on the 10th day of the month. Payments should be postmarked no later than the 4th of the next month. Late penalty ($5.00) notices are run on the 5th of the month. Bills for rental properties are sent to landlord and if renter is responsible for paying, they can get copy from landlord or contact city office after the 10th of the month for amount owed.


OUTSIDE WATERING METERS – Outside meters are available for summer watering. Meters are read in the fall and accounts are adjusted for watering through a credit to the sewer portion of the monthly bill. There is a $20 deposit for meter which will be returned when meter is returned to city.


SUMP PUMPS – All sump pumps must drain to the outside of the house and not down the sanitary sewer.


NEW WATER/SEWER LINES – Please contact city office prior to installation of lines.


DOGS

City of Maynard requires by Ordinance that all dogs within the city limits are licensed. Licensing fee is $10.00 with yearly renewal fee of $5.00. Owners need to provide proof of vaccination at time of licensing. No more than 3 dogs allowed per household.


ZONING PERMITS

A zoning permit is required for all types of improvements to your home. Types of work included are siding, shingling, windows, sidewalks, fences, sheds, garages, new construction, etc. The fee for the permit is $20.00.


LEAVES/BRANCH PICK-UP

City personnel will pick up leaves and branches at curbside that have been boxed or bagged. Leaves should not be raked into the street and there is no burning within the city limits. If you have a large quantity of leaves or branches, call city office and we will arrange to leave a truck or trailer for you to load the leaves and branches into. Residents are encouraged to haul their own leaves to burn site. Key for site can be picked up at Corner Stop.


ITEMS FOR LANDFILL

Call City Office to arrange for pick-up. Resident will be charged for item or load and pay for use of truck and man to haul load to landfill. Clerk can give you estimate when you call to arrange for pick-up of items. April is clean-up month and at that time resident will only be charged for the load and not for use of truck and man to haul load to landfill. Minimum charge is $10.00.


CITY TRUCKS AND TRACTOR

Vehicle to be driven by city personnel. Any request for use of equipment needs to be arranged by calling the city office. Person requesting use will be charged hourly rate of $40.00. Minimum charge for use of truck or tractor is $40.00.


SNOW REMOVAL

Call city office to be put on list for this service. City office will keep track of number of times snow is removed during winter and bill for service in spring. Removal of snow will be done after all snow has been removed from city streets. Charge will depend on size of job. Minimum charge for snow season will be $20.00 per time.


CARS ON STREET IN WINTER

If there is more than 2 inches of snow, car must be off street by 6:00 a.m. If your vehicle gets plowed in and you need city to move snow, the charge will be $50.00. Whenever possible, during winter months, park your cars off the street. Your vehicle may be towed if left on street during snow removal.


BURN SITE

Items that may be hauled to burn site are trees, branches and brush. All other yard waste must be composted. Key for burn site is available at Corner Stop.
